Team For Wimbledon (a) Papa Johns' Trophy
Since Pompey don't have a game this weekend because of international call ups the next game is next Tuesday at Wimbledon in the Papa John's trophy.
Wimbledon are playing Sat against Oxford at home so may rotate the squad more than Pompey. Pompey have a few players not able to play though because of the international window.
My expected team:
Bass,
Romeo,
Downing,
Oglivie,
Vincent (if fit - Otherwise Oglivie at LB and Robertson at CB with Brown coming onto the bench)
RHF
Thompson
Williams (for 60 mins then Jewitt-White)
Jacobs
Ahadme
Harrison
subs: Hirst, Marquis, Raggett, Freeman, Harness, Jewitt-White, academy keeper
I see the game as an opportunity to get some players some minutes (Downing, Harrison, Thompson, Ahadme, Jacobs and Vincent hopefully too) and also put out a strong xi whilst protecting a few for the following Saturday at MK Dons

Not only do we have a few players unavailable due to international duty, but I hear two of them have also now contracted CV19! Those two will also not be available for MK Dons away the following weekend.Jack_Tinn wrote: ↑Wed Sep 01, 2021 10:13 am Since Pompey don't have a game this weekend because of international call ups the next game is next Tuesday at Wimbledon in the Papa John's trophy.

Only surprise Bass guess he is the one with COVID?

Yes - Bass has Covid - hence emergency loan Eastwood as goal keeper in the absence of Bazanu.jam tomorrow wrote: ↑Tue Sep 07, 2021 6:57 pm Pompey: Eastwood; Romeo, Mnoga, Downing (c), Ogilvie; Hackett-Fairchild, Thompson, Ahadme, Jacobs; Harrison, Hirst

It would seem that Ellis Harrison has scored a hattrick tonight in this game. Pompey were 0-2 down and are now winning 3-2 thanks to a 25 min hattrick from Ellis Harrison......
Re: Team For Wimbledon (a) Papa Johns' Trophy
Harrison needs to start on Saturday then. And let's hope the performance is better than last time we went to MK

Danny not a happy bunny with the majority of last nights team and I don't blame him totally unacceptable to let in 5 goals it's not just the defence good teams defend from the front. Only 3 players come out with any merit Thompson, Harrison and Mahlon the rest were Meh, to be fair some of them were playing out of position. I was surprised with Ogilvie and Jacobs they were poor because are highly rated, however our forwards are all bargain basement Ahadme, Hirst etc. Downing has just come back from Covid so he was not up to speed yesterday, and we had a goalkeeper that has never trained with us so it was a recipe for disaster.

I didn't catch the game. For those who attended how many of the goals were down to dodgy keeping?

That was the deal with Bromley that he would be able to play for us in this contest but quite honestly imo he isn't up to it and struggled, combine that with a GK that has never trained with us plus Downing returning from Covid.

Actually, the keeper did really well considering he had not even met any of the team prior to the game! He made a couple of good saves and commanded the area but had no chance with any of the goals due to VERY suspect defending in front of him.
