Re: Appy
Should have stayed at Blackpool rather than gamble and jump ship to Blackburn.
Why always me!

Re: Appy
So I assume he'll still get paid his full contract. How long was the contract for? Football managers are a lot like Bankers aren't they; do well and they get paid, screw up and they still get paid, but don't actually have to do any work.

Oh I dunno.Norman Piper wrote:me neither . He hasn't stayed at any one club long enough to make judgment .Gone Fishing... wrote:He's been in charge at three clubs and I still can't work out if he's actually any good...
When he joined Blackburn, they were pushing for promotion. He leaves them 4 points above the relegation places.

absolutely agree.
Re: Appy
Crazy. With us at the start of the season, then in charge of Blackpool for 15 matches, then Blackburn for 12.

Re: Appy
Would you Bill? I know he was elevated to idol status for sticking with us and for saying all the right things (at least until Blackpool came calling), but were we mistaking apparent loyalty for talent?Selsey Bill wrote:I'd have him back...and far stranger things have happened

Re: Appy
He was given a pass for any criticism by Pompey fans because he stayed. He didn't have decent players or money to spend and therefore his defeats were overlooked. Anyone without another job opportunity would wait till their current position changed which is what appy did. A few placatory remarks as he lets the door close behind him and his tenure with us would be marked in success.
Let it be said, he was never a good tactician, even with us, he made poor judgement calls
