Born in Watford where his wing-half father Frank had spent four seasons playing just after the war, left-sided wing-back Kenny Jackett spent his youth playing for junior side Bushey Rangers from the age of ten. He was invited for a trial with Watford in 1974 at the age of twelve and did well enough to be offered schoolboy terms in October 1976.
