I’ve said for a while that the playoffs are a distant dream today did nothing to change my mind
It’s pretty obvious that the squad we have at the moment is not good enough to mount a challenge for a playoff position
Today we were out thought by their manager and we’re fortunate to get a point let’s be honest if Hackett is starting them that pretty much sums up our lack of quality

Missing 2 forwards and Morrell and Curtis, even so we were terribly sloppy in the 1st half. I feel that Ogilvie needs dropping atm. Not enough pressure on the Vale goal when we got back to 2-2. 5 or 6 1st team signings required.

Terrible first half with the team playing without much purpose or direction. The second half had to be better, which it was just about. Passing it around at the back is always going to be a problem especially when the players are not good enough and the opposition pressing like Port Vale did. The whole team seemed to struggle with the conditions which bothered them more than Port Vale. I really couldn't come up with a man of the match and I have to agree with Mr 55 that Hackett had a poor game. He is a really gifted player but his short comings were ampley demonstrated today. Having said all that I don't think Port Vale were the worst team we have seen at Fratton Park this season. Obviously with the more points we drop the less likely we are going anywhere near the play offs. All in all I think we went back to the Cowley era today.

Very disappointing today. I thought after 2 straight wins away we'd have more confidence and a better idea of how to play. We're missing some key players but it was a mistake to start Hackett. He's not good enough unfortunately and training well isn't a way to judge whether a player starts. I was surprised he stayed on. We had no midfield in the first half and Lowery made a difference. But saying the wheels are coming off is OTT. JM has inherited a squad and needs to make his own changes.

On a positive note Morrell picked in the starting team for Wales versus Croatia he has come on leaps and bounds. Normally just a sub so his rating has gone up

I’d agree we had no midfield until we brought Lowery and Jacobs it was clear to see we were overrun in that area until then.Fortunately unlike Cowley Moushino saw that and made a good tactical change thus why he’s got the job not Cowley
Give him a chance to get rid of some deadwood (Hackett comes to mind) and build his own team and see how we are next season he appears to have the tactical nous but not the players he needs

That's right. Still, it was good to get down to FP for the atmosphere and to see what work is going on. It looks like the Milton End will be massively improved when finished. Was Westwood there? Didn't hear a bell.

No bell - no Westwood, and love him or hate him I think he was missed. Fratton Park was quiet at times which it wouldn’t have been if he was there.
Trouble in the Fratton End which was just embarrassing, couldn’t see what happened from the North Upper but two escorted out.
Can we still make play offs, do we want to make play offs, I don’t know but should be a fun end to the season.

Terrible first half, much better second. Darrell Clarke never applied for our job, he made it very clear that he was perfectly happy at Port Vale. With regards to tactics, I'm happy with Mousinho - he made a very brave move subbing Towler at half time, and then by bringing on Lowery who changed the game. Ellis Harrison and Matty Taylor absolutely bullied our defence in the first half and playing into a very strong wind obviously helped the team attacking the Fratton End. Clarke then replaced Harrison and Taylor with two other big lumps and killed the game off as these subs stopped us attacking. What this performance showed me is that we are exactly where we should be in the league. Without Colby Bishop we could be in a relegation scrap - surely has to be our player of the season already?

No doubt on Bishop being POTS. Let’s hope he can do the same next year for us as well 👍

Whether Clarke ever applied for our job we will never know, saying he was happy where he was doesn’t mean he didn’t apply, as far as Mous is concerned it remains to be seen whether he is right for us? The proof will be in the pudding there is no doubt Clarke’s tactics did throw us off our game and this is because Mous is still learning on the job. Fair dos though he did make the right changes at half time, I will back any manager that we appoint and hope he comes good.

It’s obvious we are playing better under Jose and he’s instilled more belief and backbone in the team. Could anyone really see us coming back from 2-0 down under Cowley?

The big question is how will he do in the transfer market this summer. I guess that’s where Hughes and the like come in.

As others have said, JM made the right changes to get us back in the game. He's learning on the job and it's a big job for his first one! Things seem less complicated than under Cowley and more fun. You've got to enjoy playing.

OK we played badly in the first half, however the two goals came from defensive errors. You can argue that their pressing caused those errors. Mous & Harley spotted the area where PV were exploiting and brought on Robertson.I would have taken off Recco who seemed to get the `first ball` right then lose it on the second touch. Dale was not much better. We had a very weak attacking bench with Pigott & Scarlet missing and how we missed Morrell. Several of the Teams above us have to play each other, so the dream is still alive! PUP
