Club accounts

Post by Pompey55 »

The club’s accounts are now available on the website simply we made an operating loss of 2.9 million in 2021/2022 with an equity injection of 9 Million
5 Million on assets and refurbishments
Can’t be bothered to go into to much detail but turnover of 12 million would allow a playing budget of about 7.2 million under FFP regulations but nowhere are wage costs shown just a general cost of sales figures

It does show the gulf between L1 and the Championship and the sort of money the owners will have to spend. Those sorts of numbers mentioned would maybe buy a couple of decent players at that level - never mind their wages, the rest of the squad and all the other costs! The fan ownership would clearly have never got us anywhere near. We also don't have a lot of scope for getting more bums on seats. Maybe L1 it is then for the foreseeable future.
Like many, trust few and always paddle you own canoe.

Attendances don't pay the bills, but they do make a difference will be interesting to see next year what a difference the lack of reduced capacity and the following year what the Milton end and the concessions in the Milton end add to the kitty.

It is without doubt thanks to the Eisner family that we are in the fortunate position of only being 2.9 million in the red, yet still functioning as a working club. Their investments have kept us afloat after the covid payments stopped. The fans trust would sadly never have achieved anything like this and like Peterborough we would be in a very deep financial hole again, if not out of business.

As the additional capacity is unlikely to be season tickets then allowing for reductions for segregation you could expect maybe £500-750k more income by my reckoning with 1500 more than this seasons average

These figures here cover the period when the north stand was reduced due to the building work - this season (accounts released next year) will not have that reduction. We are two years off seeing the accounts for the 'New Full Capacity' following the Milton End Works.

Ipswich posted a £14.4m turnover, and a £14.4m operating loss for the same period as our loss.

Based on that their wage bill can be no more than 10% more than ours unless their owners are investing via equity to subsidise it
That could be likely as our owners had to use equity to update the ground theirs did not
FFP is based on turnover not profit or loss in league one
Also loans can cover losses but not playing costs simply bring in good accountants and it’s quite easy to massage the figures to breach SMCP rules
It looks like based on these figures Ipswich could have problems if not promoted

Their owners pumped in something like £18 million, also as it was their first season down so their salary protocol arrangement is different.
