Pompeyfan 200: 1956-2023

Post by Pompey Neil »

Hi all,

It's been a long time since I've been on here but unfortunately I have the sad news of informing you all that Pompeyfan200 - mine and RobLJH's Dad, and US Pompeyfan's brother - passed away yesterday. He was surrounded by his wife, myself and Robbie.

He has been involved in the La La League on here for god knows how long, at least 15 years maybe?! He introduced both myself and Robbie to it and it became a longstanding competition we shared, when we all knew really he was the better player.

He always kept us informed every time we visited to let us know if he won the league or another competition...again... he really did enjoy doing this week in and week out and loved the competitive edge with everyone he played against - win or lose.

I'd like to continue honouring this by predicting on his behalf for the rest of the season and hopefully win a final bit of silverware for a father, and brother who in my eyes was in a league of his own.

Final thing from me, and this is soppy I know, but please cherish the time you have with your family and enjoy every memory you can make.

Many thanks all,

Neil.

As I wrote in the PM this is such sad news. Condolences to the whole family.

Of course you can continue to predict for your father this year. I will keep you informed with reminders when required.

I believe it is more than 15 years but uspf should be able to confirm this.

Personally I have enjoyed our battles over the years.

As we have just restarted the FA Cup maybe we can name it the pompeyfan200 Cup if that is ok with everyone.

Take care.

Rich

PS Soppy is good and totally appropriate.
Why always me!

Hi Neil. Desperately sad to hear this. You will always hold dear the wonderful memories and your Dad will always live on in your and Rob's thoughts.

As you so rightly say, it really is so important to cherish loved ones and create special memories.

Take care and best wishes.
