From The Daily Mail Online

"Michael Appleton is closing in on the managerial vacancy at Blackpool after edging ahead of Owen Coyle and Paul Ince in the race to succeed Ian Holloway.

Portsmouth boss Appleton is believed to have had talks with Blackpool chairman Karl Oyston in the last few hours and is on the verge of reaching an agreement to take over at Bloomfield Road, according to sources close to the club"

Until the administration is resolved by:
a) someone paying to buy the club
b) closing the business down

Step up Guy - your time has come. Time to prove that run last season wasn't a fluke.

If true the the only surprise would be that he's stuck with it as long as he has. Did he have those talks with the PST that he was hoping for? If so, perhaps he didn't get the assurances he was looking for.

Let's face it, without his stay at the park, his profile would never be so high as to be in blackpool sights..
