Rotherham

Post by Sam_Brown »

Hopefully we can build on the win vs Sunderland. If anything that game should show we need to start playing the ball out from the back quicker (something the bad conditions against Sunderland forced us to do). Consistency hasn’t really been the word for us this season so another win would be nice to see.

Tall order to get anything and personally, would be happy with a point. DC has already indicated he needs to further rebalance the squad and it needs it. Maybe a few promising youngsters will be released by Newcastle in the Jan shake up there. Could even be an older few including Matt Richie, not that we could afford his wages! If we are serious about challenging the Rotherham's of this division we need players that are more determined and consistent than those we have at present. Still fingers crossed for the game today, you never know!

A point today would be fine for me. A win would be a real bonus. Just hope that we don't get hammered and that we give a good account of ourselves.

Given the injuries and suspension, I don't think we have too many competent options. It also means that we are not in any sort of position to play defensively and hope to score on the break or get a draw. I just hope that we learned from the Sunderland game that we are a much more effective team when we attack, and especially attack quickly.

With Downing, Robertson & Vincent injured, and Mnoga & Johnson out on loan, we have no more defenders! Ogilvie back from his injury just in time.

Losing 0 - 1 at half time - Smith (who else). According to Guy Whittingham a fairly even game, but they have the goal.

Four points off the relegation zone now with Ipswich coming up on Tuesday.
Time to revert to a back four because we just don't have enough goals in us to out-score the opposition.
How can Cowley continue to leave Azeez and Jacobs on the bench?

For me this season is a write-off, it's going to be full of inconsistent performances like Sunderland then today. The Cowleys need time, transfer windows and patience from the fans.

And yes we're 4 points off relegation, but also 4 points off the play-offs.

Have you watched any games since they took over? I can count decent performances on one hand. Out of their depth.
They need to go.

I am not in favour of shipping managers out at a moment’s notice but it is getting more and more difficult to see anything but steady decline.

I want the apparently grown up approach that Crowley personifies to succeed but patience is wearing thin.

This is shaping to be our worst season for 5 or 6 years. I hear the ‘squad needs rebuilding, at least 3 windows’ stuff. My fear is that by next September that may just sound like a load of hot air. Do we have to just button up and take it for about 18 months?

Does anyone seriously see any signs that we are getting better ? Are we destined to be awful until next season starts, then suddenly be great?

I don’t have an alternative plan by the way but if it doesn’t improve soon this will be unsustainable.
