Champions League TV rights.
It strikes me that competition hasn’t benefited sports viewers. Once upon a time it was enough to have Sky Sports. Then BT Sport comes along. Another subscription and no reduction in Sky Sports subs. Then we get Amazon Prime grabbing another sports slice. And now there’s the possibility of Prime securing Champions League rights. A higher sub? No reduction in BT Sport? I guess I’ll resist paying more but, like most sports fanatics, I’ll probably succumb again to ensure I don’t miss the big events.

Re: Champions League TV rights.
Completely agree. The ruse that it would give customers "more choice" was obviously BS at the time and has become clear as day it was just an attempt to squeeze more money out of the fans.

Re: Champions League TV rights.
If Champions League is important to you, then you're still going to need your BT Sport subscription.
Here is the summary of the deal from 2024 season published in the Financial Times today 1st July:
"The three-year deal, announced on Friday, echoes Amazon’s arrangement with the Premier League, in which it has offered a small number of games to its Prime users as part of their subscriptions since 2019, while the bulk of matches have stayed with mainstream broadcasters.
BT Sport, which has had exclusive UK rights to the Champions League since 2015, will continue to carry the vast majority of games, while match highlights will move to the BBC for the first time."

Re: Champions League TV rights.
Thanks for that. I don’t look too far ahead these days.
