Very old Pompey Programme

Post by RockyNFFC »

Hi Folks,

Yes I'm a Forest fan but I come in peace!

My father recently passed away and amongst his belongings were a load of old football programmes. Mainly Forest ones but the odd one from other teams.
One that stood out a mile was a very old Pompey one.
It's dated 11/02/1933!
I have no idea why he would have this as he wasn't even alive then and has no affiliation to Pompey..

Anyway, I would very much like to donate it to Portsmouth, whether you guys have a club museum or something similar. I have tried contacting the clubs commercial team but haven't heard back yet, so if anybody could help, that would be great.

Does the club still have a historian? I know we used to.

The City Museum has or at least had a fair bit of memorabilia too.

Someone on here will know, some probably went to the match....

Hi Rocky, Condolences for your father and I am sure you will have very fond memories of him, especially if you both supported the same team. You would have shared the same emotions that come with supporting a football club, both good and bad, with him. Thank you so much for your gesture and I am disappointed that our club has not reciprocated a reply, they don't have a very good record recently for their public relations. As Pompey1984 has already suggested there is a club historian and a program like you have will be of interest. I will do some research this end to see where it would be best received.

I hope Forest have a great season except if they are drawn against Pompey in the cup for your sake but, especially, in memory of your dad.

Thank you for sharing and I'm sorry for your loss. As someone a bit younger than most on here (sorry guys ) things like this always fascinate me.

You're very welcome on here and whenever we play you guys in the future I hope you'll return to the board and contribute to the match day discussions. :thumb

10 years too soon! My brother might have been there but I can't ask him now.
Avatar: Harry 'Brusher' Mills (19 March 1840 – 1 July 1905) was a hermit, resident in the New Forest in Hampshire, England, who made his living as a snake-catcher. He became a local celebrity and an attraction for visitors to the New Forest. No relation as far as I know :thumb
