I wish them the best for the future, but they clearly had to go.

Sad but inevitable given that they were increasingly unlikely to deliver the agreed objective of a playoff place.
Looks like the Eisners have more ambition than some posters expected.

Re: Danny Cowley sacked
I feel very sorry for them and, no doubt, the brothers will be at their lowest ebb. I have no doubt they were nice people and probably good coaches but this has been a job too far for them. Now we wait and see who comes in and I wonder whether the owners have already got someone in mind. I wouldn't think this is a knee jerk decision by them so this has probably been coming for the last couple of weeks.

Re: Danny Cowley sacked
If success is measured in work ethic then DC would be at the top of the tree, however unfortunately it’s not, they had all the best intentions and we wanted them to succeed. They had our backing but enough was enough I hope they do well wherever they end up, and have better luck.

It is never nice to have a parting of the ways mid season, but as stated above, it had become inevitable. I am sorry that it didn't work out for the Cowleys, and wish them well for the future.

Re: Danny Cowley sacked
Wishing all the best to Danny. A good man who definitely had our club at heart.
Results here have proved his undoing but I am sure he will be a success at future clubs.
Some of the comments have been pretty hateful and no doubt hurtful. I understand the anger but I thought we were better than being hateful to our own manager. But each to their own I guess.
Thanks DC.

Re: Danny Cowley sacked
One man has totally ****ed up the club? Really?
I am thanking him for his efforts and hard work. I know it didn't work but that is no reason to lose all manners is it @BlueOcen?

I'd go and chat to some Charlton and Birmingham supporters before pushing Bowyer's name forward. Sterile safety first football, no plan b and poor use of substitutes. Haven't we just dispensed with that an hour ago?

Re: Danny Cowley sacked
I think the point that was being made was that after taking over from Kenny Jackett, he showed that he "got" Pompey and the relationship with the supporters was pretty good until quite recently. He's a good guy and I think most of us really wanted him to succeed, but ultimately football is a results business.
And to address the point, totally 'messing' the club up was what happened to us when we were 24 hours from being liquidated, not when we have a poor run of results in League One.
