The north stand ones will go when the next phase in it happens I would assume.

Milton end can't go higher, I still think it will be rebuilt at somepoint way down the line once the north stand is proper.

We really need the new bridge/bridges. Goldsmith Ave is ridiculous after full time. I wonder what the situation is with persuading parties it's viable. Seems like it's standing still at the moment.

Cullen said a while back that a couple of options were going through some viability studies.

Completely agree but it's actually quite a complex planning and funding problem.

Permissions are needed from the City Council (who have been supportive) and also Network Rail, who own Fratton station. My recollection is that the club have also been seeking some funding from Network Rail to pay for the bridge - never an easy task! - because it will benefit the rail network as well as the club.

Personally, I think that a new bridge is unlikely to be built until the club reaches the Championship and also decides to remodel the North Stand completely - executive boxes, new layer, etc. A new ground capacity of 28-30,000 would then justify a bridge more easily.

The bridge needs to come first - no bridge no permission for new north stand.

That's good - they seemed confident the other day they would be able to for this match but you never know.

That's right. And ME said that demand for the North Stand needs to be high for the extension to go ahead. That'll only come if we get promoted I expect. So it's all on tenderhooks. Network Rail will be waiting for assurances that the bridge is worth committing to. So we're at a stand-off. Dollar dollar bills y'all.

I don't think it's quite like that. The club are trying to demonstrate that all the associated development around FP justifies the bridge, not just the stadium.

Yes that's true. But it looks like we need to be an established championship club first.

Although as he says, it's not a definite.

It looked as though only about 30ish spectators in the 'safe standing' Milton seats! So much for the 'sold out'??

It was sold out - it was a test event. It was discussed in the recent updates by the club.

Are you saying that only 30 spectators were allowed as 'a test'? If so, why? Not much of a test really is it?
