Some of us have never thought we are a big club in comparison with the upper echelons of the league but we are I believe are a club that represents the city and is supported by the people of the city and surrounding area

I don't know why this question pops up every so often. Some people seem to think, or like to believe. we are a little insignificant club. The facts speak for themselves, today we had 18000 at Fratton Park which is 8 times the size of the crowds that a small club like Accrington Stanley get. We are a very big club for League One, probably an upper average size for the Championship and a small club for the Premiership. Why anyone wants to deny that is beyond me.

Does this take into account a grounds max capacity ?

It says you have an average attendance of over 18,000. Capacity if what I read is correct of about 21,000.

That is bl**dy good IMHO

If your capacity was 6p,000. It’s crap

i really need to see the attendance as a percentage of the max capacity , for this to show a true picture .

I looked at the top and selected percentage .

You are #1. Just over 90%

What, medium-sized at League One level? We are in the same bracket as. say, Shrewsbury, Cambridge, or Exeter City?

Medium sized in relation to the entire league structure. Probably too big for league 1 and just right for the championship. Small for the prem.

It’s very objective though I appreciate.

I think every club has a natural level (which don't get me wrong can change over time with investment and good or bad ownership).

I'd say our natural level is probably in the Championship, as that's where we've spent more seasons in my lifetime than any other division.

It has always been this way. Lots of players who sign quote “ the sleeping giant” line but we always have been a rollercoaster club, up and down, high and low. I have enjoyed and despaired over the many years I have followed Pompey, but I can’t get off the train.
