Very sad, or not as the case maybe
You can take the man out of Pompey
But you can`t take Pompey out of the man
But you can`t take Pompey out of the man

Re: Scummers are down
Sorry fellas, but I think I'm going to switch my allegiance to the Saints!!
I know, I know...it's unthinkable for somebody to do that but....
Today, for the first time ever, I watched the whole of their match against Fulham and guess what? At the end of the game I felt soooo happy, overjoyed even...and I don't very often feel that way after watching Pompey!!
Do you think it's a sign or is there some other, underlying reason??

While I always want Pompey to beat Saints when we play them, I’m happy to see them do well. I would have preferred them to stay up. Living where I do now I sometimes think I might go and watch when they play some of the top teams. I did once, about 40 years ago. I was tempted to go recently but somehow I couldn’t pull the trigger. Old habits die hard.

I went through a period of going to the Dell when Pompey were away and I wasn't going. I saw Manchester United play there with George Best, Bobby Charlton and the rest of the star studded team. I saw Spurs with Jimmy Greaves, Dave Mackay and again a star studded team. They regularly drew 32000 crowds for these sort of games and I saw teams and players I wouldn't have been able to see if I hadn't have gone. There wasn't the sort of television coverage there is now so you could only read about these players or listening to people who had been to games. There is a redeeming excuse for me though as I always wanted Saints to lose.New Forester wrote: ↑Sun May 14, 2023 8:07 am While I always want Pompey to beat Saints when we play them, I’m happy to see them do well.
