Post by Claygate »

Terry Devlin - 19 year old box to box midfielder signs from Glentoran for an undisclosed fee.

So refreshing to see Pompey getting their business done early. That’s 4 signings in 24 hours since the transfer window opened. Well done to Richard Hughes, Andrew Cullen and Co.

what is really encouraging too is that none of them are loans, one is a keeper, All four have their prime best footballing years in front of them, two are young (21 or under) and up and coming players with attacking instincts and all seem to have a common trait of being athletic.

Sounds like the new teams have been playing football manager!

Lower leagues you just make sure you get good young and physically quick / strong players in and you can walk it!

Congratulations to Rich Hughes and his team they have pulled off a real coupe signing Devlin especially as so many clubs were apparently after him. They are really showing how dealing in the transfer market should work no messing about BOOM BOOM BOOM Devlin looks a very promising aquisition

Now confirmed on the PFC website.

What a start to the recruitment process! Quite a contrast with this time last year.

Can't remember the last time we were this "organised" in terms of actually getting them in through the door. Might actually be in a position of having a team that have trained together at the start of the season.......that will be a novelty.

Feels far preferable to waiting to see who we can get In cheaply at the last minute.

Let’s hope it pays off.

Unlike the usual Pompey to sign so many decent looking players so early in the window. This has a good feeling about it.
Mark Hateley and Alan Biley made my favourite season.

The lad from Burton said the ball started rolling a few weeks after the season ended.

I noticed that one of the signings also said he had spent a few days in Portsmouth being show around by one of the directors which I think is great of we are, where practical wanting players to move closer to the 'office' it's little things like this that make you feel wanted, whatever the job.

I would say that these signings, good as they are, are not first team place signings other than the gk. I would expect further higher grade signings to take first team slots.

The information given by the Mous suggested that Devlin was destined for the first team
