Signing Number 10.
Won't be Tommy Leigh according to the news...
https://www.portsmouth.co.uk/sport/foot ... re-4206187
Nor the lad from Ipswich who was injured all last season.

Re: Signing Number 10.
If the snooze says that he's possibly tucked up in the team hotel in Spain already, but seriously £200k too much for us does indicate we don't see him as our attacking midfield / extra forward solution and they see better value elsewhere for that position if that's the plan at all.Pompey1984+1 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 04, 2023 12:44 pm Won't be Tommy Leigh according to the news...

He might have been a good addition but not an outstanding one
Anyway Moushino has said we've got our marquee signing in Whyte
I don't think any of us can question the budget as yet still 4 plus weeks to the first game.

Re: Signing Number 10.
is it a question of £200k too much for us? or too much for him, with only 12 months on his contract is it value for money?Pompey55 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 04, 2023 1:52 pmIf the snooze says that he's possibly tucked up in the team hotel in Spain already, but seriously £200k too much for us does indicate we don't see him as our attacking midfield / extra forward solution and they see better value elsewhere for that position if that's the plan at all.Pompey1984+1 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 04, 2023 12:44 pm Won't be Tommy Leigh according to the news...

Re: Signing Number 10.
£200k for a league two player with a year left on his contract does seem a lot of money.
As I've said previously I'm not sure he would get the excitement he gets of he had been released by Derby as a kid rather than us.

I must admit I did think he is therefore probably our next signing to be unveiled.Pompey55 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 04, 2023 1:52 pmIf the snooze says that he's possibly tucked up in the team hotel in Spain already, but seriously £200k too much for us does indicate we don't see him as our attacking midfield / extra forward solution and they see better value elsewhere for that position if that's the plan at all.Pompey1984+1 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 04, 2023 12:44 pm Won't be Tommy Leigh according to the news...

That being said this year it seems we have signed players that we have no idea we have been linked with, and a couple where when asked JM has said yes, we're interested in him and it's happened.

Re: Signing Number 10.
Please note what I said that we thought £200k was to much for what he would bring to the team not we would not have paid it if we thought it was the solution to that positionPortchesterblue2 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 04, 2023 2:29 pmis it a question of £200k too much for us? or too much for him, with only 12 months on his contract is it value for money?Pompey55 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 04, 2023 1:52 pmIf the snooze says that he's possibly tucked up in the team hotel in Spain already, but seriously £200k too much for us does indicate we don't see him as our attacking midfield / extra forward solution and they see better value elsewhere for that position if that's the plan at all.Pompey1984+1 wrote: ↑Tue Jul 04, 2023 12:44 pm Won't be Tommy Leigh according to the news...

Re: Signing Number 10.
I have put my tin hat on so that I can say that I don't see the fixation with Leigh. His stats from last season, although allowing he was in a struggling team, are not really that impressive. Is he any better than Lowery for instance?

Re: Signing Number 10.
I suppose the main difference is he stayed fit! Lowery is almost a new signing this season with a full pre season under his beltBlue Walter wrote: ↑Tue Jul 04, 2023 3:32 pm I have put my tin hat on so that I can say that I don't see the fixation with Leigh. Re: Signing Number 10.
I would like Pompey to actually sign a Marquee player but not overspend and to get value for money obviously as Mous has said Accy value him and are not cash strapped. If the Pastie Boys and Preston want him they will have to pay the price.Just hope if we do get someone in they should exceed our expecatations not another released freebie.

Re: Signing Number 10.
Lewis Wing would be a very good signing.
Tommy Leigh at £200k is fairly expensive but then we've just taken a punt of £80k on an unknown 24yr old Aussie.
