I have to say, I didn't think he was anything special when I saw him play. He was ok'ish but didn't get my juices flowing.

We shall see, but lets get behind those that have signed for us.

I went to the Wycombe game and saw him play live for the first time. I have to agree with your assessment insofar as he had good technical and physical ability without really showing me that he was dominant in any regard and he was certainly not taking control of the defence or gave me any indication that he was a strong leader or communicator (something I like to see from centre halves).

I was left with the impression that he could be a good signing if a deal could be reached - mostly through potential and his age being under 25 - rather than anything that I saw myself that I was so impressed with in his performance. Equally I felt that if Pompey missed out on him then it might not be the worst thing that could happen.

Early reports seem to suggest that Poole may work out to be the better signing. Time will tell but I don't feel at this point that Pompey have particularly missed out. Not in the way for example that I thought Pompey not signing Scott Twine was a massive mistake when he left Swindon to join MK Dons on a free.
