If it's Wednesday, it must be art
Each Wednesday post a drawing of a Pompey player. My first is of Paddy Lane, born in Halifax but representing Northern Ireland. Anybody remember George Best!

If you are in any way trying to infer Paddy Lane is another George Best..FORGET IT!!
George was probably the most skilful player to ever grace the beautiful game..in fact he made it beautiful.
What he would be like on today's silky smooth pitches only God knows.
Was privileged to see the man play on many occasions and was always mesmerised.

he could also teach the modern footballers a thing or two about taking a tackle, he was routinely kicked around the pitch, but just picked himslef up and carried on, you wont see any footage of him diving around or rolling around screamingeltorrro wrote: ↑Wed Oct 11, 2023 9:23 amIt's obvious you must be young!!!ZebedeeDoleDole wrote: ↑Wed Oct 11, 2023 9:07 am Each Wednesday post a drawing of a Pompey player. Good idea. I hope cheating is OK.

I was lucky enough to see George Best play in the flesh. He was in my opinion the best (no pun intended) British Player of his generation. Unfortunately he was the first "Pop Star type" Footballer and nobody knew how to cope with that status, especially George. My late Brother in Law was a friend of his, he too died from alcoholism. I did not know my B.I.L. until much later
