Reading protest

Post by Pompey55 »

Seems that their supporters are planning a protest match on Saturday and are calling on us to join them
Not something I will do but considering we have been through similar in the past ourselves its hard not to sympathise with them
However the snooze is reporting some are referring to the attitude of some of their fans when we had problems and saying what comes around goes around

I seem to remember that some of their supporters had little or no sympathy when we had simliar problems. Something to do with 9-4

I don’t base my actions on what a few knob heads do. I know a few Reading fans and they are sound and were hoping we avoided going out of business when we were in the ******. I hope they avoid a similar fate as I would for any team.

I agree, we would not wish what happened to us on any other Club

I think some people lose the sight of realism when talking about football. They tend to think of a football club as a person with its own character, possibly based on supporters of that particular club that they have met or known about. Of course the fact is that football clubs across the country have a support with the same human mix in types and characters as the next one.

I remember a Bolton supporter where I worked saying things like 'we bought the cup' and we deserve what we get for 'cheating'. That was before Bolton got into trubs, of course. I have had similar remarks from supporters of other clubs. The truth is that 'we' never 'cheated' but those who ran our club did.

I wish Reading all the best and I hope they pull through their present problems. Pity Bury didn't get the chance because without the little clubs there would be no big clubs.

I was at that game. Think it was the only game I managed to get to that season. Very weird game.

Yes, I was at that game and I remember saying to the people I was sitting with that if we upped the tempo we could get 6. I remember that the game was a bit boring and Pompey were not pressing home their superiority. It certainly wasn't boring in the second half though.

There was also a disallowed goal, and a Jamo penalty save in that game too!
