Re: Bolton THE BIG MATCH
Good game so far. Fairly even but I do think we have got in behind a few times towards the end of that half and Yengi looks to have worked out how to get away from the giant marking him... I sniff a red card.

Re: Bolton THE BIG MATCH
Well one run has come to an end - apparently have not won on a Monday since Easter Monday 2021 against Wigan ! Great result tonight, in a way was a kind of must win, lose and a slide into top 6 could have started, the win puts us clear, magic, dare we start to dream ?!

Re: Bolton THE BIG MATCH
Credit where it's due Sparkes, and Whyte when he came on, played very well today but what a team effort.
I think I would give everybody a 9 for tonight...but Yengi a 10. Quite magnificent the way he persevered against the fouling bog house Santos. Hope Kamara injury not too bad; he had the full back in his pocket.
Great result, keep it up.

Rightfully MOTM Yengi what a performance. I didn`t think Bolton really had a sniff second half. How the Referee did not penalise Santos (who didn`t even get a yellow card) on more occasions.Whyte was very good when he came on and made the second goal. Sparkes had a good match kept his winger quiet and what a delivery for the first goal

Re: Bolton THE BIG MATCH
Why not ? we’ve just outplayed the top scorers in all 4 divisions
The only bad news was Kamara who looked to pickup a knock, real shame as he has played very well the last 3 games.

Re: Bolton THE BIG MATCH
Morrell did a lot of mopping up tonight, I think Robertson had a quieter game than normal, not sure if that was the position change or perhaps move likely the early booking.

Re: Bolton THE BIG MATCH
Well that's half-way to a certain promotion. 90 points would do it and with 28 games to go well within the range of this excellent squad. Hats off to Mourinho. Could have gone defensive to preserve that 1-0 lead but decided on the high press and got a huge call right. What a refreshing change to the Kenny Jackett days.

He's really started to get into his game. Everything crossed it's not a long term thing.
Yengi and Sparkes particularly good tonight. Sparkes' crossing is exceptional! Robertson a little quiet maybe but overall the entire team including the subs were massively up for it and that's credit to everyone.

Re: Bolton THE BIG MATCH
I think you’re right, the booking was a factor plus he was ‘on’ Sheehan who also had a quiet night (apart from one top class cross field pass late in 2nd half)Pompey1984+1 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 11, 2023 10:26 pm Morrell did a lot of mopping up tonight, I think Robertson had a quieter game than normal, not sure if that was the position change or perhaps move likely the early booking.
