Re: Leeds vs Pompey
Cometh the hour, cometh the Lang
We can say the squad spirit is still there and everyone will've learned a lot from the game. Really can't complain about much with a bit of a patched up squad and maybe Mous experimenting a little as he tends to do with free hit games. A massive well done overall and it must've been mental in the away area.

Re: Leeds vs Pompey
Of all the newly promoted teams we had the hardest challenge and came away with our heads held high. Positives Sorensen and Lang finishing looks good , Pack controlled a lot with another two cm will be better. Towler and Shocks steady again needs another rock like Raggett with Champs quality. Norris did ok

Probably, our hardest game of the season. Clearly second best, but held our own and definitely not looking like we'd get the drubbing we'd feared.
Some of you feared
You can take the man out of Pompey
But you can`t take Pompey out of the man
But you can`t take Pompey out of the man

Re: Leeds vs Pompey
Absolutely delighted with that result. My prediction of a 4-0 loss was looking well placed in the first ten minutes, but, and its a big but, I should have known better. This is Pompey after all. Showed a lot of grit and determination and managed to take our chances, should we have left with a point, probably not. Did we leave with a point, oh yes we did. Play up Pompey, football is back, Pompey are back.

Re: Leeds vs Pompey
So how's that beating valencia and spending millions on players working out for then then? Bet your cousin is proper happy this eveningTrueBlueBlood wrote: ↑Wed Aug 07, 2024 6:39 am My cousin is a Leeds fan who lives in Gosport, he keeps an eye on the blues too. This is what he thinks of our preparation. He said:-
"Leeds played teams like Valencia, who we beat 2-1.
Pompey played reams like Bognor and Gosport, is that really the correct level to prepare for?
Leeds are putting in bids for players in the region of 20million.
Pompey are getting freebies and the odd 300k player."
He then went on to say that a 5-0 opening day drubbing for Pompey looks to be fair looking at how both teams have prepped. I found it hard to argue, what do other blues fans think of his statements?

Re: Leeds vs Pompey
I saw a Leeds podcast and they are so arrogant they think they are too good for the Champs and all the teams in this division are beneath their level

Got to keep the strong spirit and feel good factor going from last season as much as possible and that includes the supporters. Saydee was wanting more noise this afternoon.

My cousin....well......he is spitting feathers to be fair.
Got to admit that if we had that many efforts at home and only got a draw then we would be too.
But his 5-0 drubbing for the millions spent on players has gone a bit quiet!
I am buzzing for a draw. I posted in another thread that we did that today with loads of injuries, by having no proper forward in the team for twenty minutes and having players start who had not evening been in a friendly game with their new team mates. Impressive for sure.

Re: Leeds vs Pompey
Apart from when they scored the first goal the atmosphere was dead from them whereas we were noisy all game not the Elland Road I remember it used to be an intimidating place to go to
So they got what they deserved

Away at caister this weekend. Seen a few Leeds supporters about over the last few days and all of them were rubbing it in about how they were easily going to beat us and don’t get too upset when we get a drubbing so I’m quietly happy they’ve all been shut up lol.
